RVS Harden

Improve the wear-resistance and corrosion-resistance of all stainless steel materials

Machine parts that are used for producing and processing chemicals, foodstuffs and plastics are generally manufactured from stainless steel and are subject to corrosion and wear and tear. So the question is what can be done about it?

Chromium diffusion

If the stainless steel material chosen by you turns out to be insufficiently resistant to corrosion, the INCHROMIZING diffusion process could very well be the best solution for you. Inchromizing creates a surface containing as much as 50% chromium and also causes the hardness of the stainless steel to increase to as much as 1100 Micro Vickers, resulting in a much greater resistance to wear and tear. Examples of products treated in this manner include pipes, strainer elements, axes and plungers.

Characteristics of stainless steel hardened via chromium diffusion:

  • Diffusion thickness: 5-50 µm
  • Temperature resistance of up to 900°C
  • Surface hardness: ± 1100 Micro Vickers
  • Surface chromium content: 50-53%
  • Elastic and therefore easily deformable
  • Increase in corrosion resistance
  • Improved wear resistance
  • Standard maximum dimensions: 3200x2000x900mm, other dimensions on special order

If the corrosion resistance of the stainless steel material chosen is sufficient but wear or cold welding is a problem, then HARD INCHROMIZING may be the best solution for you. This treatment results in a very hard and wear-resistant surface with retention of its corrosion-resistance. This unique process also has a negligible impact on the dimensions of the product. This surface treatment is being applied in all the different industries, most recently in the soldering industry. Components which are frequently treated in this fashion include pipes, control valves and cutoff valves, pumps, tin container constructions etc.

Characteristics of the stainless steel hardening treatment via hard inchromizing:

  • Diffusion thickness: 5-20 µm
  • Temperature resistance: up to 900°C
  • Surface hardness: ± 2000 Micro Vickers
  • Elastic and therefore easily deformable
  • Low coefficient of friction
  • Increased wear resistance
  • Retention of corrosion resistance
  • Standard maximum dimensions: 1500x500x500mm, other dimensions on special order
